| You
don't have to be artist to design a great patch. Many patch vendors
can create a patch from whatever artwork you submit. Patch vendors also have many
stock designs that you can choose from and just add your own title and date.
A great way to get a really cute and interesting patch is to have a 'Patch
Design' contest with your troop or several troops. Patches can take anywhere
from three to six weeks to arrive after they receive your final artwork. Be sure
to order patches for your event in plenty of time to be able to give them out
at your event. Patches vary in price based on size, the amount of colors
used and various add-ons, such as iron-on backing and qty ordered. If the patch
is completly embroidered it will cost more than a patch that uses the background
color of the patch as one of the colors. A patch ordered in a small quantity
(less than 100) can run as high as $2.50 per patch. A large quantity (400+) can
run as low as $1.00 per patch. The
Potlatch Patch (pictured left) is a 3" Round Patch using 13 colors. It is
100% embroidered and has an iron-on backing. It was ordered in Qty 250 and cost
$1.55 each. (including shipping).
The
Campfire Roundup patch (pictured right) was ordered in Qty 200 and
cost $1.30 each. It was not 100% embroidered and the orange coloring was the patch
color (not embroidery). This patch was designed by a 11 year old Junior Girl Scout. The
Leader-Daughter patch was ordered in Qty 100 and cost $1.45 each. It was 100%
embroidered. This patch was designed by a 10 year old Junior Girl Scout.
